Directly Behind the Graham Arms is the amazing Devils Porridge Exhibition with its many displays, photographs and artifacts from the amunition factory during world war I which streached over eight miles along the solway.
 
Guests touring Dumfries and Galloway are within easy reach of a wealth of local amenities. These include outstanding walks in the Moffat and Galloway Hills, the wonderful Galloway Forrest Park and the stunning Solway Coast or the famous Roman Wall a World Heritage site. There is also fishing available on some of the very best fishing rivers in the UK. Cyclists too can enjoy the many excellent, well marked trails in Dumfries and Galloway both on and off road. The 7 Stanes Mountain Bike trails are renowned world wide. We are spoilt for choice of Golf courses in the local area, Powfoot, Lockmaben, Hoddam are just a few highy recommeded courses
 
The local area has its fair share of castles such as Comlongan, Drumlanrig, Culzean and Carlisle and the ruins of Sweet Heart Abbly which lies at the foot of criffel on the outskirts of Dumfries

 

It is well worth spending time to take in the atmosphere and visit the world famous Gretna Green where many couples have eloped to be married over the anvil. Also the Blacksmith Shop & Food Hall where you will find quality local produce from fresh scottish salmon to hand crafted souviners, coffee shops and much more. Look out for the scottish piper in full highland dress!
